ST. PAUL, MN — A 32-year-old motorcyclist from Little Canada was seriously injured and taken to a hospital after a police chase through the Twin Cities ended in a crash Tuesday morning. The Minnesota State Patrol says the man is under arrest on suspicion of fleeing police and a firearms violation.

The pursuit began just before 6 a.m. when a state trooper tried to stop him for speeding on Interstate 494 in Bloomington.

Chase Across the Metro

According to the patrol, the motorcyclist kept going north and east through the metro instead of stopping. The chase continued until St. Paul, where authorities say the motorcycle crashed near Cayuga and L’Orient streets.

State transportation cameras recorded the high-speed pursuit, which at one point had eight troopers following the rider.

Crash Scene Details

The patrol said the motorcycle was involved in a T-bone crash at the St. Paul intersection. The other driver left the scene after the collision.

Officials did not immediately release details about that driver or the condition of any other people involved.

Injury And Arrest

The motorcyclist was described as seriously hurt and hospitalized after the crash. Even with those injuries, the state patrol said he remained under arrest as the case moved forward.

Authorities have identified him only as a 32-year-old man from Little Canada.

What Investigators Say

The Minnesota State Patrol has tied the case to both the alleged speeding stop and the later pursuit through the metro. The agency has not said whether any additional charges may follow.

For now, the key details remain the same: a short traffic stop turned into a multi-trooper chase, and it ended with a serious injury and an arrest in St. Paul.
